MEDIA Almost every type of editing and audio- visual compositions can be made by using special software especially made for this purpose. Some software can even make three dimensional figures which are mostly used in the cartoon films. Special effects for action and science fiction movies are also created on computer. TRAVEL AND TICKETING Computers do all the work of plane and train reservation. It shows the data for vacant and reserved seats and also saves the record for reservation. WEATHER PREDICTIONS Weather predictions are also possible by the experts using supercomputers. SPORTS It is also used for umpiring decisions. Many times the umpire has to go for the decision of third umpire in which the recording is seen again on the computer and finally reaches to the accurate and fair decision. Simulation software allows the sportsman to practice and improve his skills. DAILY LIFE We operate washing machines, microwave oven and many other products using software. The Decline of Family in Modern Britain Family- â€Å"a group of people who are related to each other such as a mother, a father and their children â€Å"(Cambridge Dictionaries Online, Cambridge University Press (2008)), Is this the view of a family in 2008, clearly it could be said that this definition is somewhat outdated but does it point to the family being in decline? In Britain today the family has certainly undergone a lot of changes compared to the 1950s where the family was predominately a nuclear family where the man of the household went out to work and the woman stayed at home to cook, clean and look after the children. Today there are a number of ‘new’ structures to a family such as single parent families, reconstituted families and same sex families all of which consider they to be what constitutes a family. But how did these ‘new’ structures come about, to answer this we have to look at the changes the family has undergone in recent years. Divorce is a big influence on the structure of a family as it is today. Divorce is easier to obtain than in previous years with the introduction in 1971 of the Divorce Reform Act that established irretrievable breakdown of marriage as grounds for divorce. Another act was passed in 1984 that allowed married couples to divorce after one year of marriage that ultimately increased the number of divorces. Legal aid is now more accessible and ends in most cases the expense of a divorce. Divorce is also far less stigmatised than previously where the likelihood of knowing someone who is divorced as opposed to not knowing anyone (as in previous years) is rare and on the whole accepte... ...ly has its own structure dependant on who you are and as long as it functions to the best of its ability, it is about change ‘with the times’ rather than decline. ANALYSIS The five partners i. e. Rabie, Harary, Varadi, Michelle and Austin form what we call a team. A team is â€Å"a small number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common objective and are accountable to one another. † This common purpose was to make ‘Earth Buddies’ and the company a success. The Five-Stage Model can be used to describe the standard sequence of stages that groups go through. These are forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning.However, for the five partners, performing will be the last stage for development as it is a permanent workgroup. Once these stages are achieved, the team learns to resolve conflicts and develop norms which enable them to perform. Because of the team’s ability to resolve conflicts in friendly ways and perform, they made ‘Earth Buddies’ a huge success in a relatively short span. Each individual had their role. The roles were both task-oriented (initiating, clarifying, providing info and opinions) and maintenance roles (harmonizing, compromising, encouraging).When balanced well, these two roles contribute to effective team functioning. When meetings took place between the five partners, these two roles were playing a significant part. This helped them to stay focused towards the objectives and also resolve conflicts if any. Motivation and leadership have also played a vital role in the success of the product. Production grew to 17,000 buddies a day from 5,000 buddies. The goal was to achieve 16,000 to meet K Mart’s order. The executive team worked well with the employees and motivated them to work towards the common goal.
